Public Roads on Private Lands Seminar How Rights of Way are Created by Use Tuesday, March 20, 2012, Utah Law and Justice Center, 645 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah Approved for 4 hours of CLE for Attorneys, Real Estate Professionals and Appraisers. In 2006 the Utah Court of Appeals set new standards for how public roads across private lands are defined and created. The Utah Supreme Court overturned the Appeals judges in 2008. In 2011 the Legislature weighed in and, in large measure, took the rules back to the Court of Appeals standards. Where is the law today? This four hour seminar will discuss how public roads are created by use, what private land owners can do to avoid the creation of public rights of way, and other related issues.
Our speakers include Brent Bateman, Property Rights Ombudsman; Mark Ward, Utah Association of Counties; seasoned litigators Brent Bohman and Leslie Slaugh; and Craig Call, former Ombudsman.
